Awarded Wines of Balkan in the Global Spotlight!

Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) has firmly established itself as the world’s largest and most influential wine competition. The 2023 competition saw an influential troupe of 236 wine experts, including 53 Masters of Wine and 16 Master Sommeliers, come together from 30 nations. With over 100 overseas judges and talented regional specialists focused on what’s in the glass, DWWA results offer consumers and trade a trustworthy guide to the dynamic world of wine.

In 2023 award selection, Serbian wines received a total of 103 DWWAs; 59 bronzes, 38 silver, five gold, and one medal for Best in Show. North Macedonia has received 43 DWWAs; 20 bronze, 21 silver, and two golden medals, while Albania received four DWWAs; three bronze, and one silver medal.

These awards reflect dedicated work of winemakers in Serbia, North Macedonia, and Albania, who are set to present to the world their craftsmanship, uniquely shaped in a region rich in diversity and defined by centuries-long winemaking tradition. This is why “Wine Vision by Open Balkan” as the largest regional wine fair, and a part of the Open Balkan Initiative will continue to be a reliable partner, and a platform for positioning Balkan wines on the world stage.
